Features and Applications of Large Forged Flanges

The forging of flanges is a process of using metal forming machinery to impose pressure on metal billets, making plastic deformation to form forgings with certain mechanical properties, shapes and dimensions.

The forging of flanges can eliminate defects like incompactness of as-cast structure, optimize microstructure, achieve intact metal streamline and make forgings have good mechanical properties.

Large forged flange connection is such connection of fixing two pipelines, pipe fittings or devices to two flanges respectively and inserting flange gasket between two flanges which are fastened together with two bolts. For those pipe fittings or devices with flanges, their connection can also be called flange connection.

Large forged flange connection is an important connection for pipeline construction. There are three types of large forged flange sealing surface: flat-shaped sealing surface, suitable for conditions with non-toxic medium and no high pressure; concave-convex sealing surface, suitable for conditions with relatively high pressure; tongue and groove sealing surface, applicable for conditions with combustible, explosive and toxic medium and relatively high pressure.

Large forged flange connection is easy to use and can bear relatively high pressure. Punched bends for large forged flange connection are widely used in industrial pipeline applications. In people’s houses, because pipelines are small-diameter and low-pressure, flange connection cannot be seen by eyes, while in boiler rooms or workplaces, flange connection can be seen everywhere.
