The Difference between Flanges and Blind Flanges

The blind flange has no holes in the middle. It is mainly used for sealing the pipe opening. Its function is the same as that of the pipe plug and the pipe cap. The difference is that the blind flange is a detachable sealing device while the pipe cap cannot be opened again. The materials of the blind flange include carbon steel, alloy, stainless steel and plastic.

Because of its good sealing performance, the blind flange plays the roles of isolation, cutting, etc. For systems that need to be completely isolated, blind flanges are usually used as reliable equipment for isolation. Blind flanges are solid plates with handles. Generally, it is more convenient to use blind flanges in systems that are normally isolated. For normal operation, the yellow restrictor ring can be used to fill the gap between the blind flange and the pipe.

Flanges are used for connecting pipes, and they usually have holes. When connecting with the pipes, the flanges need to be fastened with bolts. Flanges are sealed with gaskets. They are common disc-shaped parts in pipeline engineering. Generally speaking, according to the different connection types, flanges are divided into threaded flanges, welding flanges and clamping flanges. Threaded flanges can be used for low-pressure pipes, while welding flanges are used for such pipelines, of which the pressure is more than 4 Kg. A flange has been widely used in basic engineering such as chemical industry, construction, petroleum, pipelines and fire protection.
